Herewith Dawid Kruiper Municipality wish to invite all our current and new suppliers to register on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD). Suppliers will no longer be registered at the municipality and are requested to self-register directly on the CSD by accessing the National Treasury website at www.secure.csd.gov.za
The act further states that if the Executive Mayor vacates office the mayoral committee appointed by that mayor is dissolved.
The Executive Mayor of the newly amalgamated Dawid Kruiper municipality was elected recently. Me Limakatso Koloi is the new mayor and she is serving her second term as a mayor of a municipality.
According to section 56 of the Municipal Structures act, no 117 of 1998, the functions of an executive mayor are the following. The Mayor must:

The Municipal logo was approved at the Dawid Kruiper Municipality Council meeting which took place on 30 August 2016. The logo was approved after the municipality received public input on the new logo. The inputs were made voluntarily and no one received compensation for their inputs. The logo is the property of the municipality and the municipality has got copyright on it.
It represents the sun which is in abundance in the Dawid Kruiper Municipality. It serves as a source of light and a source of energy for the people of the area. The solar initiatives in the municipal area are dependent on the sun in order to serve as a source of energy.
The Sand Dunes:
The sand dunes are a tourist attraction in the municipal area. This draws a lot of tourists to the area. Tourists perform sand surfing and other activities on the dunes.
It allows people to cross the Orange river and creates an easy flow of traffic which includes large cargo which is meant for the municipal area and it also serves as a crossing for trucks that are going to Namibia.
The first council meeting of the Dawid Kruiper Municipality took place recently. The Mayor and the Speaker were elected. Both of them have been serving in the local government sphere for some time. They are known to be dedicated and hard working individuals.

SPEAKER: Michael Segede
Mr Micheal Segede was born and bred in Upington. He completed his schooling career at Paballelo High School. His political career began in the 80’s during the hight of resistance against apartheid. He started in the local council in 2009. He served in the LED committee. From 2011 he chaired the committees on service delivery and corporate governance. He served as a member of the Executive Committee from 2011.
During his tenure he gained experience in leadership. His emotional intelligence also makes him a leader of note. He completed a course in law in local government and administration. He is currently serving as the Speaker of the Dawid Kruiper municipality.
MAYOR: Limakatso Alfonsina Koloi
Me Limakatso Koloi, who is popuparly known as Ousis, is a seasoned politician who served in various committees of the municipality.
The municipality recently granted the 8SAI army base the freedom of the city.
It was a highly militarised event which drew huge crowds to the Mxolisi Dicky Jacocs stadium where the medal parade took place. The medal parade was followed by a march through Upington. The march was also extended to the Paballelo, Rosedale and Morning glory residential areas.
The freedom was granted to the army in pursuance of a resolution taken by the municipality, the Mayor and the councillors, in recognition of its close association with Upington.
This was done as a result of the loyal and distinguished services rendered to the town and the country by the officers and soldiers of 8SAI Infantry Mechanised Batallion. During the freedom of the city parade the army was granted the right and privilege of parading through the town on ceremonial occasions with their guns and their trumpets sounding, drums beating, swords drawn and bayonets fixed.
The soldiers who participated in the peace keeping mission in Sudan were also welcomed during the parade. ‘Welcome back from your peace keeping mission in Sudan, you kept our flag flying high,’ said Councillor Segede who officiated over the parade on behalf of the Mayor.

The swimming pool in town is used on Saturday between 11:00 and 13:00 as well as weekdays between 19:00 and 20:00 by diving club members for exercise purposes. This exercise is only done at the deep end of the swimming pool.
Reitzpark is open from 08:00 till 22:00 everyday during September and March. The public should bring their own braai facilities.
