Herewith Dawid Kruiper Municipality wish to invite all our current and new suppliers to register on the National Treasury Central Supplier Database (CSD). Suppliers will no longer be registered at the municipality and are requested to self-register directly on the CSD by accessing the National Treasury website at www.secure.csd.gov.za

Health Services moving to the District Municipality

Health Services rendered by officials

Environmental Health Section is going to be transferred to the ZF Mgcawu District Municipality. This is effective from the 1st of July 2016.

Refuse Removal and Cleaning Services remain the functions of // Khara Hais Municipality

The following personnel are moving over with the section:

Manager Environmental Health – CG Kuun

Chief Environmental Health Practitioner- JJ Linden

Senior Environmental Health Practitioner- WF van Wyk

Environmental Health Practitioner- KJR Beezs

The section was responsible for municipal health services. From the 1st of July 2016, this services will be rendered from the District Municipality.

The health services are going to be rendered in the entire ZF Mgcawu district, which include the //Khara Hais and the Mier municipalities, after the merging process.

Mayor’s Tourism Message

I would like to say to all our visitors -Welcome to Our World – They say that once you get the Kalahari sand in your shoes you will keep coming back… Rich in culture and history, Upington can trace its roots back to 1870. Upington is situated quite intimately on the banks of the Orange/Gariep River and its adjacent areas and stands proud against the background of lush green vineyard and the Kalahari Desert.

Upington is the main town in the fast growing agricultural sector of the Northern Cape Province of South Africa, where intensive crop irrigation and stock farming is practiced. Upington, also known as South Africa’s River City, is situated on the banks of the mighty Orange/Gariep River and serves as gateway to the regions many attractions like the Augrabies Falls National Park (120km) and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park (268km).

Upington is a busy town boasting all the modern facilities and has an 18hole golf course, squash courts, tennis courts, bowls rink and an Olympic size swimming pool. Together with a well-developed tourism infrastructure, linked by air and road to most parts of the country, the town offers excellent accommodation, restaurants and activities of a very high standard.

Council bids Farewell

The council of the municipality held its last formal meeting recently. During the meeting the various political parties thanked the council for the spirit in which it conducted its business over the last five years.

The Mayor of the council, Me Limakatso Koloi and the Speaker were thanked by all the political parties for their leadership role which they executed with diligence.

COPE, DA and the ANC thanked the officials and the councillors for the good relationship which prevailed among the councillors.

The //Khara Hais and the Mier municipalities were recently merged and are now known as municipality N 087 until the new name is promulgated.

The total number of councillors which served the municipality during the past five years are 27. Councillor Ivan Van Wyk of ward 11 passed away during the five year term of the council.

The term of the council is coming to an end before the August 3 local government elections.

The council, as a collective, thanked all the official for the professional way in which they conducted them during its tenure.

‘I was always treated with respect and I showed the same respect towards the municipal officials,’ said Mayor Limakatso Koloi.

Lungisa Konke in Ward 14


The //Khara Hais Municipality recently held a clean-up and repair project in ward 14. The project is known as Lungisa Konke. This is an Nguni word which means that attention is paid to all the services which the municipality is rendering. Ward 14 is made up of Lambrechtsdrift, Karos, Leerkrans and Ntsikelelo residential areas. This project was started in 2014 by the Municipal Manager, Mr Deshi Ngxanga. The aim of the project is to improve service delivery in the municipal area. The project will go around in all the 14 wards of the municipal jurisdiction.

Lungisa Konke in Ward 4 and 6


//Khara Hais Municipality recently held a cleaning and maintenance operation in ward 4 & 6 of Paballelo. The Lungisa Konke project was started by the municipal manager, mr Deshi Ngxanga in 2014 in order to improve service delivery.

Swimming Pools & Reitzpark

The swimming pool in town is used on Saturday between 11:00 and 13:00 as well as weekdays between 19:00 and 20:00 by diving club members for exercise purposes. This exercise is only done at the deep end of the swimming pool.


Reitzpark is open from 08:00 till 22:00 everyday during September and March. The public should bring their own braai facilities.
